Getting good sleep is important, so here are five healthy sleeping habits:
1. Set your thermostat to 60-68 degrees Fahrenheit
It has been shown that keeping the temperature at this level will provide an environment for the best sleep.
2. Spend 7 hours sleeping
The best amount of sleep to get is 6-8 hours. Staying within this amount of sleep will promote health. Getting less can double your risk of cardiovascular death!
3. Avoid cell phone 1 hour before sleeping
Blue light that is emitted from most cell phones can disrupt your circadian rhythm. People avoiding this type of light notice better sleep and having a better mood when awake.
4. Block all light when sleeping
It might sound obvious, but anything you can do to get rid of any electronics or neon signs flashing into your bedroom the better!
5. Be consistent
The more you can go to sleep and wake up at the same time every day the better. Your body will learn that it is time to go to sleep if you stick to the same schedule.
